This study aims to explore the functional reception of Surah Ali Imran: 191 understood by the people of Semurup, Kerinci Regency as a prayer for rain in the Bratit Semin tradition. Using the Hans Robert Jauss reception theory approach that emphasizes the response of readers or connoisseurs of literary works to a text. This form of reception is oriented towards understanding the meaning or form of religious rituals. Surah Ali Imran 191 in the early days of Islam was understood as part of the routine of a Muslim's faith, while in modern times began to understand the gift of reason given by God as a way to think. While al-Ghazali understands the meaning of this verse as a way to get closer to Allah through dhikr and prayer in being a solution to every problem faced. By using the descriptive-analytical method, which describes the phenomena that occur with existing data in the form of writing or interviews and then analyzing using Hans Robert Jauss's literary reception theory approach, this article concludes that Surah Ali Imran 191 can be understood as a means of asking for rain when there is a long drought, this is also influenced by the way Islam entered the Kerinci community when it was presented by tarekat scholars who had learned directly from Arabia when carrying out the Hajj.
Farhan Suhada

The father significantly influences the quality of connections within the family unit. Despite bearing considerable duties, his presence frequently goes unrecognized, especially by children. The Qur’an delineates the attributes of an exemplary father through diverse narratives, notably the account of Luqman al-Hakim—a sagacious being endowed with insight by Allah SWT, albeit not a prophet. The narrative, located in Surah Luqman verses 12–19, imparts moral lessons and ideals relevant to modern life. This study investigates the Qur’anic depiction of parenthood through an analysis of Luqman’s counsel to his son, with the objective of elucidating the fundamental characteristics of an exemplary father. The study employs a library-based approach and descriptive analysis, concentrating on Sayyid Qutb's interpretation in Fi Zilal al-Qur'an. Research indicates that Luqman epitomizes the quintessential paternal archetype through four principal responsibilities. Initially, he assumes the role of an educator, fostering his child with affection and comprehension. Secondly, he functions as a sagacious advisor, providing counsel grounded in religious principles. Third, he serves as a role model, somebody whom youngsters might admire and ultimately imitate. Ultimately, he assumes the position of family leader, bearing the duty for the household's spiritual and moral guidance. This research underscores the necessity of acknowledging and revitalizing the father's significant role in familial dynamics, utilizing the narrative of Luqman al-Hakim as a perennial exemplar of fostering responsible and value-oriented parenting.
Asif TrisnaniUly Ariana SariMuhammad Thoriqul Islam

https://ojs.stiudq.ac.id/JUQDQ/article/view/400

Contemporary Muslim engagements with the Qur’an manifest in various ways. In scholarly discussions, this phenomenon is referred to as the Living Qur'an—how humans engage with and interpret the Qur'an as both a text and a source of significance. An such is the custom in Bangai Village, where individuals read the Qur’an at graves for three consecutive days and nights following a death. This practice is founded on the conviction that the recitations advantage the deceased and demonstrate profound spiritual and social consciousness. This study examines the significance and progression of this tradition. Data were gathered through observations and interviews with key informants using a qualitative descriptive method in field research. The research employs Alfred Schutz's phenomenological theory to comprehend the underlying significances of the activity. The results are categorized into three principal domains. The subjective meanings encompass spiritual and social qualities, whereas the objective meaning emphasizes its educational function. The motivations for the custom are dual: the cause motive indicates its perceived positivity and use in everyday life, while the objective motive pertains to enhancing comprehension of Islamic teachings and promoting fraternity. The reciting tradition adheres to a distinct structure of pre-procession, procession, and post-procession stages, each characterized by particular rites and significance. This study demonstrates the embodiment of the Living Qur’an within local tradition, integrating spirituality, education, and communal cohesion into a significant religious practice.
Rizki Ramadhan SitepuIlhamni IlhamniBilfahmi Putra

https://ojs.stiudq.ac.id/JUQDQ/article/view/509

Multicultural education in Indonesia requires an approach that can integrate values of tolerance and respect for religious and cultural differences. One of the primary sources for building a strong foundation for multicultural education is the teachings in the Qur'an, especially Surah Al-Kafirun. This research aims to analyze the values of religious tolerance contained in Surah Al-Kafirun and its relevance in building multicultural education. The method used in this research is a library method with a content analysis approach. This research examines the text of Surah Al-Kafirun in depth to identify values that can be applied in multicultural education, such as appreciation for differences, mutual respect, and recognition of religious freedom. The research results show that Surah Al-Kafirun teaches the basic principles of religious tolerance, including respect for others' religious choices, acknowledging differences as part of God's will, and maintaining harmonious relationships despite differing beliefs. In the context of multicultural education, this surah teaches values of respect for differences, an inclusive attitude, and the ability to resolve conflicts peacefully. This surah-based learning model, such as the dialogic approach and collaborative projects, helps students understand diversity and strengthen interfaith cooperation. In addition, this surah supports the strengthening of Indonesia's national identity by teaching the importance of unity in diversity.
Mubarakatun NikmahYogi Sopian Haris

https://ojs.stiudq.ac.id/JUQDQ/article/view/419

The hudud verses in the Qur’an, such as the prescribed punishment in Islamic law for theft, which includes hand amputation, are often the subject of debate regarding their application in the modern legal system, especially in Indonesia. As a country with a majority Muslim population, Indonesia is faced with a significant challenge to balance the application of sharia with a national legal system influenced by Western laws and local customs. This study analyzes Hasbi Ash-Shiddiqiey's interpretation of the hudud verse in Tafsir An-Nur. This study examines how Hasbi contextualizes the application of hudud law by considering maqasid asy-syari’ah, as well as Indonesia's complex and diverse socio-legal conditions. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with an in-depth analysis of the text of Tafsir An-Nur through the framework of maqasid asy-syari’ah. The study results revealed that Hasbi was not fixated on literal interpretation, but rather considered social factors, such as poverty and social justice, in the application of hudud. The contextual approach emphasizes the importance of protecting fundamental rights and people's welfare, thus making Tafsir An-Nur relevant in Indonesia's pluralistic legal system.
M.
