Abstract

Muslim polarization on social media is shaped not only by theological disagreement but also by the ethical management of difference in digitally mediated discourse. This article examines how contextual exegesis can reread selected verses of unity Q.S al-Baqarah [2]:143, Q.S Ali 'Imran [3]:103, and Q.S al-Hujurat [49]:11 and 13 in relation to contemporary Muslim polarization. Employing qualitative library research and hermeneutical content analysis, this study integrates classical and contemporary exegesis with Fazlur Rahman's Double Movement. The cases involving Ade Armando and the controversy surrounding the Prophet's birthday are used as illustrative contexts rather than systematically analyzed datasets. The selected verses articulate universal moral orientations of balance, solidarity, mutual recognition, and human dignity. These principles offer a normative and hermeneutical framework for addressing binary framing, stigmatizing labeling, and mutual delegitimation in digital religious discourse. Contextual exegesis can connect the historical meaning of revelation with contemporary ethical questions without making empirical claims about all social-media users.
