POST PUBLICATION DISCUSSION

Post-Publication Discussion Policy

Jurnal Ulumul Qur'an: Jurnal Kajian Ilmu Al-Qur'an dan Tafsir STIU Darul Qur'an

1. Purpose and Commitment to Open Debate

Jurnal Ulumul Qur'an: Jurnal Kajian Ilmu Al-Qur'an dan Tafsir recognizes that the publication of an article is not the end of the scholarly process, but rather an invitation for academic dialogue. We actively encourage post-publication discussion, critiques, comments, and corrections from the scientific community to ensure the ongoing accuracy, validity, and development of Qur'anic and tafsir scholarship.

2. Mechanism for Submitting Critiques and Comments

Readers, scholars, and researchers who wish to discuss, critique, or add substantive value to a published article are encouraged to submit a formal "Letter to the Editor" or a "Commentary" manuscript.

When submitting a critique or comment, the following guidelines apply:

  • Scholarly Focus: The discussion must directly address the scientific, methodological, textual, or interpretative aspects of the original article.

  • Evidence-Based: Claims or critiques must be supported by appropriate academic evidence, references, or data.

  • Professional Tone: Submissions must maintain an objective and respectful academic tone. The journal will not entertain submissions that contain personal attacks (ad hominem), defamatory language, or unsubstantiated allegations.

3. Editorial Handling and Right of Reply

All submitted critiques and commentaries are subject to editorial review. The Editorial Board will assess the submission to determine its scholarly merit and relevance.

If a critique is deemed valid and substantial, the journal upholds the principle of fairness by granting the original authors a "Right of Reply." The editorial office will share the critique with the original authors and invite them to submit a formal response within a specified timeframe.

4. Publication of Discussions

To provide readers with complete and transparent context, the journal aims to publish both the accepted critique (Letter/Commentary) and the original authors' response simultaneously in the same or an upcoming issue. Both documents will be permanently cross-linked (via DOI or URL) to the original published article on the journal’s website, ensuring that the entire trajectory of the academic debate is visible to the public.

5. Corrections Arising from Discussions

If a post-publication discussion or external critique reveals a significant error, methodological flaw, or ethical breach in the original article, the journal will take further action in accordance with our Correction and Retraction Policy. This may result in the issuance of a formal correction, an addendum, an expression of concern, or, in severe cases, a retraction.

6. Contact

Readers wishing to submit a scholarly critique, comment, or report an error regarding a published article should direct their correspondence to the editorial office at [email protected]. Please include the title and DOI/URL of the article being discussed in your email.
