Jurnal Ulumul Qur'an: Jurnal Kajian Ilmu Al-Qur'an dan Tafsir STIU Darul Qur'an
1. Purpose and Commitment
Jurnal Ulumul Qur'an: Jurnal Kajian Ilmu Al-Qur'an dan Tafsir is deeply committed to upholding the highest standards of academic and research integrity. The journal has a strict zero-tolerance policy against any form of research misconduct. We expect all submitting authors to adhere strictly to ethical research practices and global publication standards.
This policy outlines how the journal defines, investigates, and handles allegations of research misconduct, including fabrication, falsification, and other breaches of research integrity.
2. Definitions of Research Misconduct
In accordance with the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), research misconduct includes, but is not limited to, the following practices:
-
Fabrication: The intentional creation, invention, or making up of data, research findings, interview notes, historical facts, or manuscript details that never occurred or existed, and recording or reporting them as true.
-
Falsification: The manipulation of research materials, equipment, or processes. This includes omitting, suppressing, or altering data, primary text translations, or results such that the research is not accurately represented in the scholarly record.
-
Plagiarism: The appropriation of another person’s ideas, processes, results, words, or translations without giving appropriate credit. (Please refer to our Plagiarism Policy for detailed information).
-
Citation Manipulation: Excessive self-citation, coercive citation, or including citations whose primary purpose is to artificially inflate the citation metrics of an author or a journal rather than to contribute to the scholarly content.
-
Ethical Breaches in Human Research: Conducting field research (e.g., in communities, pesantren, or institutions) without obtaining appropriate informed consent, or violating the privacy, anonymity, and dignity of research subjects.
3. Handling Allegations of Misconduct
The editorial board treats all allegations of research misconduct seriously, whether they arise before publication (during peer review) or after publication. The journal follows the COPE flowcharts for handling suspected misconduct.
-
Initial Assessment: If a reviewer, editor, or reader raises a well-founded suspicion or presents evidence of misconduct, the handling editor will immediately suspend the peer-review or publication process of the manuscript in question.
-
Author Communication: The Editor-in-Chief will contact the corresponding author in writing, enclosing the evidence or detailing the concerns raised, and request a formal explanation within a specified timeframe.
-
Investigation: The editorial board will independently evaluate the author's response. If the response is unsatisfactory, evasive, or if the author admits to the misconduct, the journal will proceed with disciplinary actions.
-
Institutional Involvement: In cases of severe or unresolved misconduct, the journal reserves the right to formally report the ethical breach to the authors' affiliated institutions, funding agencies, or relevant academic authorities for further investigation.
4. Sanctions and Outcomes
If research misconduct is proven, the journal will implement one or more of the following sanctions:
-
Pre-Publication: The manuscript will be immediately and unconditionally rejected. The authors may be temporarily or permanently banned from submitting future manuscripts to the journal.
-
Post-Publication: If the misconduct is discovered in an already published article, the journal will issue a formal Retraction in accordance with our Correction and Retraction Policy. The retracted article will remain online but will be clearly marked as "RETRACTED" to maintain the transparency of the academic record.
5. Reporting Misconduct
We encourage reviewers, readers, and the academic community to report any suspected cases of fabrication, falsification, or research misconduct found in our journal. All reports will be handled with strict confidentiality.
